Vacation – York, Maine

We got to take a long weekend in York, Maine for my sister’s wedding this weekend, so there was limited gardening activity other than some pre-vacation watering.

The boys and I did manage to get out to the Tractor Supply on Sunday to rummage through some left-over seeds that were now discounted 25%!  We picked up another variety of beans, some Jack-be-little Pumpkins, and a couple perennials: Lupine & Echinacea.

With any luck we can get our last raised bed planted and a second trellis made for our green beans this week.  Temperatures appear to be settling back to normal after our 3-day heat wave last week.

Okay, that’s the sweetest picture ever.

And I forgot to post earlier that I have unlimited quantities of horse manure–which is pretty composted by the spring, so if you want to compost further and save some $$, just drive on down to Massachusetts. There is also a farm nearby that sells composted alpaca manure, which is supposed to be really great, for $40 a pickup load, or free for your first bag.

I may take you up on that compost offer next spring. I have some plans for some beds around the house, after I do some yard clean-up. I just hope I am not too over zealous.
