With the “heat wave” moving in tomorrow I figured I had better get out and plant at least one of the raised beds we finished filling with dirt this past weekend. This will be my first attempt at succession planting. I am planting seeds I purchased from the Seed Savers Exchange. In this bed I am planting Dragon Carrots, Danvers Carrots, French Breakfast Radishes, Susan’s Red Bibb Lettuce, and some Red Romaine Lettuce.
With my plan in place it was time to use my newly beautified planting templates. The first template I used was my 16-hole for planting my carrots and radishes. Wen put an interesting and colorful pattern on this template.
After the root crops were planted it was time to switch it up to my son’s 4-place template for the lettuce. They look like a product of the 70’s! Now all I need is some Dark Side of the Moon in the background.
Other than the mosquitos it was an easy night of planting and watering. Into the mid 90’s on Wednesday.
