First Bottle of 2015

Not much to report today but we did bottle up our first batch of syrup this season tonight.  Ironically this is from sap that we boiled this past weekend, because we have no more cold storage — the fridge was full and the freezer is full of syrup or almost syrup and with the weather warming we needed to bottle a batch.    It was also a good time for us to work out the kinks on Daryl Sheets Filter Press.

We will need to wait until tomorrow morning after the syrup cools to confirm the grade, but this appears to be a very tasty dark amber with a robust flavor!  (28) 8 ounce bottles plus one almost full  bottle for the fridge.  Based on full bottles we are at 1.75 gallons of syrup for the season.

That is quite an impressive inventory you have there. Glad it has been a good season for you and that all of your new equipment is working just as anticipated. Now for some pancakes and bacon for dipping. 🙂

Thanks, i actually drew up the logo, scanned it in, and the wife tweaked it to fit on some Avery labels to print out with all the info.
