Well after starting these plants from seed as a companion plant to some tomatoes we have on the front walk we finally have some blooms. Of the four seeds I planted in Late April or Early May, two have survived and appear to be thriving. The red flower bloomed over the weekend and this yellow flower popped today despite the 90-degree heat!
Hopefully there will be more blossoms to come…
The marigolds have been a sure fire solution to adding some vibrant color to our gardens. Most of our raised garden beds are a dark colored soil and even our planting beds are typically covered with a dark black mulch to the Marigolds provide a sharp, vibrant contrast and some much needed color to the dark browns and greens of our garden.
